I created this HeArt felt painting in honor of my granddaughter-in-law who is expecting to give birth in about another month and a half. She is a beautiful dark headed woman but I wanted this to apply to all expectant mothers... most especially those expecting their first baby! She has heard all the stories and her older sister is a nurse and has 3 children so she hears so much! Now that the time is drawing near I can see her joy and her concerns concerning the entire process as well as raising the new little girl within her. I did it in strange colors of new dawn dreamt of because that is what goes on in the minds of expectant mothers. I used pictures I’ve seen of the outer Hebrides islands to inspire the area I painted her in.
This was sketched out first then colored in with pastels then acrylics and some iridescence.
I wanted to convey the feelings women experience both apprehensive and delightful.

Please note that all forms of art ordered will NOT have the Watermark! I am a modern impressionist with figurative abstraction thrown in. If I were to create a phrase for my work it would be, "Late 20th and Early 21st Century Mixed Media Impressionistic painter and poet telling stories with art." I first began mixing media when I was very young and everything began as a sketch in pencils then added watercolor, then oil, then acrylics in different forms. I love all the different mica powders and iridescent paint That are available. today to use in our paintings. I usually use them often in my more imaginative works... the biggest problem using them is they do not photograph the wonderfully reflective ways they change colors in the...
