Description
Springtime in The Fjords. In Scandinavia, most especially Norway, the Fjords are everywhere and the melt-off of heavy snows causes amazing waterfalls everywhere you look!. Sweden has some Fjords and there is similar scenery in Switzerland and Northern Italy but nowhere are the waterfalls from the melting snow and the mists rising from the saltwater rivers so majestic and mystic. The countryside feels like the mountians are melting and the mist that rise from the saltwater rivers creating the Fjords rise up to half the size of the huge mountain ranges. Here a family is out to admire the glorious mists and the waterfalls created by the melting snow caps. Springs are cold and often windy. Here amazing white flowers with tranclucent petals grace the high mountains along with some high mountain lupine as the spectators enjoy the view from midway up one mountain looking across the Fjord to another high mountain range on the other side. It is a sunny day creating even more melting snow and glorious mists rise up and sparkle to the viewers delight.
I am Scandanavian so I decided to start a series of paintings about the land of my ancestors. For many years Norway and Sweden were one country and they are the only countries that divided peacefully. Sweden has more farming along with their fishing there are a great deal of sheep, beef and pigs being raised for food where in Norway there is a great deal more fishing and farming is not as prolific as Sweden because of the shores that soar up to steep, high and very cold mountain ranges. The original has glass powers in the mist to make it sparkle, it just does not sparkle as much here. I should add this was painted on a canvas treated first with black gesso.

I am in a contest with ABC group and this isn’t so much for you to vote for me as it is to vote for artists because lately it seems like all the photographers are getting the votes and not the artists which to me is a shame and they shouldn’t be together it takes a lot more effort to paint then it does to take a photograph. No I have great respect for some photographers I think it’s getting out of hand I paint in Photoshop too at times But when we’re in the same contest I don’t think it’s right that Photography is winning out over the the artists. If you were a photographer or if you’re an artist please think about voting for one of the good artistic pieces to rather than the photograph or if you have to vote for a photograph vote for a piece of art also.
